Delete your account
You can delete your Merv account and its data at any time. There are two ways to do it: inside the app, or by emailing us.
Option 1 — in the app (fastest)
- Open Merv and sign in.
- Open the menu (☰) and go to Profile.
- Tap Delete account.
- Read what the confirmation tells you, then confirm.
The deletion happens immediately. It cannot be undone, and there is no grace period in which we hold the account for you.
Option 2 — by email
Write to privacy@mervhvac.com from the email address on the account, with the subject Account deletion request.
We will confirm you control that address before deleting anything — this protects you from someone else deleting your account. We complete verified requests within 30 days, and normally much sooner.
What gets deleted
What happens depends on whether you are the only person running the company in Merv.
If you are a technician, or one of several managers
- Your login is permanently deleted. You can no longer sign in, and your email address is removed from our authentication system.
- Your personal details are erased — your name is replaced with a non-identifying label such as Former technician #2B43, and your phone number is deleted.
- The company keeps its own business records — the jobs, estimates, invoices and photos it created. Those records reference the anonymized label, not you.
- The company's invite code is changed, so an old code cannot be used to rejoin.
If you are the only active manager of your company
Deleting your account deletes the entire company. There is nobody left to administer it, so it goes with you: every customer, job, estimate, invoice, checklist, photo file, and the logins of every other member of that company. The app makes you type DELETE to confirm, and tells you the real number of records that will be destroyed before you do.
If you want the company to continue without you, make somebody else a manager first (Team → change their role), then delete your account — you will be treated as an ordinary member.
What is kept, and why
Two things survive a deletion, and we would rather tell you than have you find out:
- An anonymized membership record stays attached to the company's business and tax history, so an invoice a customer already received still shows who prepared it. It holds no personal information about you — no name, no phone, no login.
- Encrypted nightly backups keep the deleted data for up to 90 days before they are automatically destroyed. Backups are only ever read to recover from an outage or a mistake.
The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Deleting some data without deleting your account
You do not have to delete everything. In the app you can delete individual customers, jobs, estimates, catalog items and photos, and managers can remove a team member without touching their account. Write to us if you want help with a specific deletion.
